Post Game Recap: Round #5 - 02-24-06 Map - De_Train (updated February 24th, 2006) A special thanks goes out to Helvetica for running the tourney once again. -Kley- --------------------------------------------------- The Map: de_train As it was the first time we've played this map in the tourney, it was still up-in-the-air as to what team was favored. With the bombsites close together, train was thought to be a good map for 3v3. The only map with closer bomb sites is de_tides, but we know that map sucks because it’s a whole three rooms anyway. Haha when you read this Kley, I know you love de_tides. To anyone else who likes tides: I will pee in your pool and swim in your toilet. It soon became clear that T side was easier. With wide open space with lots of dark corners, and trains to hide under and climb on top of, a CT had to quickly scan the entire room before attempting to defuse. The Rounds Round 1 The first round started around 7:30 between ASS consisting of Moose, gizmo, and Smokey Bones vs. [NS] with Penguin, Strongbad, and The_Xception. ASS started T with NS going CT. All 20 rounds were shotgun heavy, both noob-cannon and normal-cannon-wise. ASS won the first round 8-2 with gizmo going 12-3 with ease. ![]() Hot Shotty Action ![]() I just liked this shot Team NS attempted “uber tactics”: ![]() CS can be a mind game. NS won the round 6-4, with ASS taking the set with 12-8. Final SS Round 1 Final SS Round 2 Round 2 Round 2 was GS with D.I.P. Set, Milk, nG versus former champs DM with Bullet$, Kind Kyle, and re1gn. DM started off with T, ending with a round score of 8-2. Pretty smoke screens were deployed by DM: ![]() The second round went 6-4 with scores all breaking around the same point, but DM momentum from Bullet$ 15-4 score lead the DM to victory and to the bye. Final SS Round 1 Final SS Round 2 Round 3 Team GARSH with Franco, [CaLvIn]GoTpEnNy, and [GTL]TesticalMolestical) versus team (_,_) loudog, Kodiak and myself went 10-0 to GARSH for the first round. After team (_,_) switched to T for the second round we went 7-3, but after the slaughter of the first round, GARSH took the map 13-7. Final SS Round 1 Final SS Round 2 Round 4 For the next set of rounds, it was ASS on T versus GARSH on CT. Surprisingly, GARSH went 8-2 on CT. Franco went a cool 20-4. Team were switched and so were the scores, GARSH again went 8-2, Franco again taking a high score of 14-3. GARSH takes the set for 16-4. Final SS Round 1 Final SS Round 2 Championship Rounds GARSH versus DM These rounds were the most exciting I have seen to date. Just about every round was a close call. GARSH, playing their third set in a row, started CT and went 7-3 versus DM, and with the team switch the scores were again 7-3. A tie! Luckily, Kley had already created an overtime config, although it would boot the map over to tides, no doubt only because he loves the map so much. Final SS Round 1 Final SS Round 2 (missing, I think I left it at home.) Overtime Championship Rounds Overtime was six rounds a side with more than $800 for starting money. In overtime, narrowly missing another overtime, GARSH wins the very last round to win the tourney 6-4. Final SS Round 1 Final SS Round 2 Thanks to everyone who played! Special thanks to penguin, Strongbad, and Smokey Bones! - helvetica |
